The Moon Flower Buck: WIP 2

He is getting closer to completion. I've finished all the major work but seem to receive the bits I need with 1-2 days apart. Running out checking the post all the time hahaha... I just want to finish!
Anyway, he is primed and painted. Had to prime him on a windy roof top which was quite interesting. Got there in the end though, so all is good.
I decided to go for a mint green and pastel pink colour as I wanted him to be sort of flowery.
The colours also worked really well with the fur I'd chosen for him...
He's now sitting just above me as I work and it is highly annoying as all I want to do is to finish him. I hate waiting for post! Want it all NOOOOW! *grumpy face*

The Moon Flower Buck: WIP 1

And I'm back! Wow did we have a great week away. I got all the time I needed to rest my weary head and my pregnant body. Now it's back to the grind though, but I feel that all the energy I lost is back and I am ready for another month of hard work before baby arrives. So yesterday I thought I'd take some own time and started sculpting something that has been in my mind for probably about a year now. The Moon Flower Buck!
I've had this creature in my mind for quite some time and yesterday was the day I finally felt ready to sculpt him. He is a creature of Tomodachi Island that I will tell you more about once he is finished. He is a flower God anyway.
I started with building a base out of wire and foil, as I always do. Sculpey tends the go brittle if you layer it to thick and it won't bake properly in the middle when you burn it.
After that I work out the rough shape with sculpey and then work on the finer details such as crinkles and wrinkles.
I found it important to start with the body in this particular sculpt. I normally start with the head, but it was so important that the head was the right size and didn't look to big and clumsy on the body.

Once the head was in place I could start working on the little features...
Such as the ears and the horns. I don't sculpt them straight on to the creature as I need to dress him in fur. But I have made little holes in the head where the ears and horns can be glued in to after the fur is in place.
There he is in all his shiny naked glory. Ready to go in the oven :)
Baked and ready to be sanded. I tried the horns and ears out on him properly and they look lovely!
Sanding is the most tedious and boring job so I won't have you sit through that. But he is ready to be primed now anyway. I will prime him later today and hopefully start the paint job later tonight. I can't finish him yet though as I am waiting for some decorations for him. I am very excited about this little buck though. He is my biggest sculpture so far and I really can't wait to finish him. He stands about 31.5 cm tall at the moment (without the horns) and about 22 cm wide. He's going to be soooo purdy!!!

My Friday; The day of Sculpting...

Hope all of you had a great weekend! I worked all weekend but managed to take some time of on Friday. So I thought I'd show you my Friday in pictures. It was also the day of sculpting. Which I did plenty of!
I started the day with editing pictures and uploading the Bunny Hat tutorial and then me and my other half went out for lunch and a lovely walk in the spring sun. I wouldn't mind living here, I can see myself decorating that balcony with loads and loads of flowers and greens... If only!
We got a beautiful park just down the road from where we live that leads straight to the beach. This is probably one of my favorite places in Bournemouth. I think mainly because it is so quiet and all you can hear is birds singing. It is hard getting away from people and traffic when you live in such a busy town as Bournemouth. So I really appreciate this place. It is like a little sanctuary.
 Spring sun!
One day I'm going to photograph one of my sculptures here. A sculpture I am yet to make and it needs to be very foresty looking I think and a bit mystical :)
Wonder where this leads? Probably to someones property, so I've never dared to walk up....
We finally made it to the beach where it was super windy and super cold, but we were set on having our lunch there and so we did. As long as the sun was out it was fine, it warmed you up nicely. And sorry for the Instagram photos, there was so much sand blowing around and I wasn't allowed to use the camera. You don't want sand in your camera....
The beach in Bournemouth is beautiful this time of the year, and it is also the only time you can enjoy it properly. In a few months you won't be able to see the sand anymore. Last summer at the peak season there was 70 000 + people on the beach at one time. And last weekend when we had a hint of summer with 18 degrees warm there was probably somewhere around 10 000 people down there. I had a panic attack and started crying and we had to walk above the beach after climbing about 500 steps of stairs, to get away. I am a bit too sensitive right now that I'm pregnant and all, but I don't like crowds of people and I hope that I can afford to buy a house on the country side one day, where I can get away.

Anyway, Friday on the beach was great, and when I got back home it was SCULPTING TIME! So these are the things I use when I sculpt...
I couldn't live without my sculpting tools. These are for wax carving but works wonders with Scupley too.
I only just started using clay shapers and WOWIE are they good or what. It is so easy to get smooth fine details with these things. Definitely a must if you want to work with clay of any sort. They just make life so much easier.
I always drift of when I sculpt and totally forgot to take photos as I was sculpting. I am not completely finished yet as I changed my mind about a few things. The red eyed one will get paws as well and I also decided not to use the hat I made the other day. I will use it for something in the future, but not for this Munny. Got other plans now that I will show you once I am done.
So yeah, it became a bunny like creature and a cat like unicorn creature. Got some finishing touches left to do and then I need to burn them, prime and paint, as well as making accessories. Oh! Can't wait to get them done!
As for this coming week I've got allot to do. I have started making weekly lists of what to achieve and I think these will really help me to get back on track with my life and especially my business. So it is time to pull out the note pad and get planning.
What are your plans for this week?

Datchi???......

Here is a little taster of what I am working on at the moment. It is a pretty big project that I hope will be a success. I am not ready to tell you just yet what it is all about and the completion is quite far off as I still need to get some tools to complete it. But I suck at being secretive and just had to show you a little something...

The Making of Foomi...

Oh! I am so happy that I had time to do this today. Should probably have cleaned the house, but neh! creativity comes first! So Foomi is getting closer to completion. I finished sculpting today and he's been baked and sanded too! So all I need to do now is to get some primer to give it a nice white finish and get rid of the scratches from the sand paper and then it is PAINTING TIME! Can't wait! Hope I wont mess him up though... <3
