The Needle Felted Circus Rabbitses...

And so another Monday has arrived. At the moment the days seem to just float together for me. I really have to force myself to keep track of them. I bought myself a needle felting kit anyway, and some wool that I had delivered last week. I had this idea of two circus rabbits hanging above the crib and for some reason I wanted them to be needle felted.

I can tell you on thing about needle felting; it is NOT as easy as it looks. I had to learn this the hard way, sweating away at my work station. These two took me about three days to complete and I just kept adding and adding and adding wool to them.
I think I did pretty well for my first try though and in the end they came out exactly as I wanted them. I will definitely make more of these type of things. Maybe not so cutesy but more like little monsters and creatures.

But for a baby I wanted it cute and fun rather than a bit creepy/cute. I am sure some people might find these little rabbits creepy anyway to be honest. There's just something about things coming out of paintings rather than sitting inside them, that is creepy.

I hope you like them anyway and that you're looking forward to seeing more of these type of things in the future. For now though I am going to rest my poor swollen and sore hands and just take it easy today I think.

I've aaaaalmooooost finished the baby area now. A few more bits and bobs to sort out, but I am not far off.

I am really happy with it and I can't wait to show it off! And I especially can't wait to put my little Nova down in her cot for the first time and see her reaction to all the little creatures and things around her. Awwww baby come out!!! <3

Lotus and Markers...

Yesterday I decided, after finishing all my orders for the week, to spend some time drawing. Haven't really had the time lately so it was nice to take a break from the computer and let my mind free on the white paper.
I decided to use the drawings from the Lotus flower study I did a few weeks ago and it came out as a lovely drawing. At first I planned to do this in Illustrator. It's been so long since I used markers though, so I decided to use them instead.
I can still make a cool Illustrator pattern out of them later on. And also the Cat face I did the other day for the phone case, really inspired me to use more markers in my work. I think this will look real pretty on a phone case as it is and will probably upload one once I've had it scanned in.
I really need an A3 scanner. I hate working in A4 format, there just aint enough space on the paper. On an A3 on the other hand, you can go wild and work much better with details and such. So I think an A3 scanner will be next on the shopping list. Now I have to wait for my other half to bring this to Uni and scan it there...
Anyways, hope you like it and I will see you again tomorrow! With some updates on the Moon Flower Buck :D

The Moon Flower Buck: WIP 2

He is getting closer to completion. I've finished all the major work but seem to receive the bits I need with 1-2 days apart. Running out checking the post all the time hahaha... I just want to finish!
Anyway, he is primed and painted. Had to prime him on a windy roof top which was quite interesting. Got there in the end though, so all is good.
I decided to go for a mint green and pastel pink colour as I wanted him to be sort of flowery.
The colours also worked really well with the fur I'd chosen for him...
He's now sitting just above me as I work and it is highly annoying as all I want to do is to finish him. I hate waiting for post! Want it all NOOOOW! *grumpy face*

CandyFloss

Here's another timelapse for you lot. I did this quite a while back now but I forgot to share it with you.
I started this picture from scratch in Photoshop. As I rarely sketch in Photoshop, and you don't get to see how I really start a picture, I thought it was time for me to sort that out.
So here it is, my little candy floss haired lady.
Hope you like it!

Table art...

The drawing to go inside the table I am restoring is done. I don't know if you remember, but I bought this second hand table that I wanted to restore. Anyway, I need to give it one more coat of white but the weather is not allowing me. I think I just have to do it inside. Don't want to though as the paint is really smelly, however the summer seem to have given up finally and now I'm looking at several months of rain. Seems I don't have any other choice. I will show you some photos of it when it is done anyway. It will definitely be a one of a kind item anyway. Can't wait to finish it off.

Tomo and Triclopod...

It's been a while since I completed a more complex painting and I must say it was a bliss painting this. I have missed it so much!
This is the first picture with Tomo and Triclopod together. But they are best friends and always go hand in hand so I thought it would make a lovely picture. I only meant to do something simple for the new banner, but ended up doing this instead. I will probably have to go with something a bit more simple for the banner of the blog, but thought I'd show you this anyway.

The Fox...

Finished the little fox this morning. It is a completely new take on my art. Very simplified, but I love to work this way. It is funny how important little details such as texturing and little highlight become when you work with minimalistic drawings/paintings. You want to leave it simple but still interesting. I think the texture of this one made it pop, and a will definitely work with texture more in the future. Hope you like it!
